An attempt to analyse phraseological units with the British ethnocultural semantic component in the translation aspect with the purpose to determine types and reason of transformations which these phraseological units undergo in the process of their translation into Ukrainian language is carried out in the article. It was set that in most cases phraseological units with the British ethnocultural semantic component in the process of translation preserve their pragmatic potential, they subject complete transformation by such methods, as compensation, descriptive translation, analogue search, compression and others, what is explained by the complexity of the semantic organization of phraseological units with the British ethnocultural semantic component.

The article highlights the verbal context lexico-grammatical characteristics of a lecture discourse . The Non-finite verb models are considered with the focus on their functional syntactic actualization within the framework of the discourse social and genristic characterization. The non-finites are treated as the functional paradigm constituents. As specific means responsible for the outward reality detailed revelation these units expose contextual dynamism of the lecture delivery. The statistic data obtained identify the discourse verbal stereotype.

According to the intensity the force of connection between the lexical-semantic groups of adjectives with lexical-semantic groups of nouns by means of K were divided into the groups with high intensity, middle intensity and low intensity.

The paper centers on such constants of the poetics of Gothic literary tradition in Joyce Carol Oates prose as gothic chronotop, on the leitmotivs of ancestral curse (doom), escape, family breakdown, searching, etc. These gothic elements carry out functions extending the limits of the genre, subject matter and the role of its narrative. The combination of the real and fictional stories deepens her novel, adding it features absent in the traditional gothic novels.

The article probes the ways of formation of the three dimensional aspect in verbal poetic synaesthesia as a phenomenon of a poetic text. It was found out that within the boundaries of such an image three types of senses are getting combined: extraceptive, introceptive and proprioceptive. Some of the sensory images in different combinatory patterns find their explicit manifestation in the verbal poetic synaesthesia while others are implied.

The semantic background of both original word and its equivalent is important for creating the target text that is stylistically adequate to the original one. While choosing the equivalent its important to take account of the stylistic markers of the latter. The stylistic markers of the equivalent shouldnt run counter the general stylistic bias of the source text, though if the author puts a lexical unit in contrast to the style of the text, translator should at least partially preserve this contrast.

The article describes the concept of gender difference, male and females speech and considered in the implementation of interjections. In this paper we consider the gender characteristics of emotions in verbal communication with spontaneous interjections, which are the most vivid manifestation of their vehicle.
